I'm super-stoked you're here. I hope you enjoy browsing through our blog, there's lots to discover from sessions, videos, tips and tricks for all things photography & videography (and more!)
A little more about me? I spend way too much at Starbucks, those cold brews are amazing! I love playing video games and watching movies, and I'm obsessed with everything Gordon Ramsay. So if i'm not on the computer, you can find me at home on the couch with an xbox controller, or in the kitchen cooking up something great!
I hope your day is as beautiful as you are. Enjoy!

You know its funny, I feel like so many couples wish for perfect weather, bright sunny days and picturesque sunsets, and while having that is nice, sometimes there’s magic with less “perfect” days. Chris and Rachel were traveling from Charlotte to Wilmington to meet with some wedding vendors as well have some Fort Fisher engagement photos taken for them. I’m sure a lot of you know first hand when it comes to scheduling appointments and meeting with many wedding vendors you have some really full days ahead of you.
Of course, when their engagement session was scheduled to be done, there was a 70% chance of rain. Not being from the area, they couldn’t reschedule! So while Rachel and I were frantically watching the radar on our phones, Rachel came up with a solution! She would move up her hair appointment with Set Blowout Bar so she could still make it to her makeup appointment on time. All of that was so we could capture her Fort Fisher engagement photos a few hours earlier than planned! Normally, I would be against having an engagement session in the late afternoon. But when I realized the clouds were here to stay, I thought that this might actually be really beautiful since we wouldn’t have to worry about harsh lighting conditions.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, here’s what you need to make magical photos. Couples who are crazy in love and know how to play around with each other. The dramatic clouds and the light breeze made for the perfect setting. But when Rachel brought out that dusty blue dress, I just about died and went to heaven. I knew how ridiculously great their photos were going to be. Take a look for yourself! If this is how good their engagement session turned out I can’t wait to capture their wedding! They’re getting married at Wrightsville Manor next year!
If you’re starting to plan a wedding and love the look of these photos, I’d love to be able to capture them for you too! Just send us a note here. Or feel free to email us at info@saxtellphotography.com.
